RUSSIA: GAZPROM PREPARES TO BUY INTO CHINA GAS
Gazprom announced this week that it may buy an unspecified stake in China Gas Holdings, an investment firm with
interests in the gas distribution market in Hong Kong, where it is based, and mainland China. The memorandum of intent,
signed Friday in Beijing, provides for the creation of a joint venture to invest in municipal gas infrastructure
projects in China, Gazprom said. After the construction of its own infrastructure China Gas could take a 20 percent
chunk of the Chinese gas distribution market, Gazprom said. - (EMEconomy.com)
