Com: Pakistan`s Commercial Officers in embassies abroad assure to promote exports and investments
KARACHI, May 10 (PPI): As many as 17 Federal Government Officers who have been posted as Commercial Officers in
Pakistan Embassies abroad have assured the FPCCI members all help for the promotion of country's exports and for
soliciting investment from abroad. The assurance was given at a meeting held here Monday at the Federation House
Karachi. Tariq Shafi Chak, Managing Director, Punjab Small Industries Corporation who has been posted as Consul General
to Hong Kong, speaking on behalf of all the Government officials who attended the meeting held under the chairmanship of
Haroon Rashid, Vice-President, FPCCI said that they would do their utmost to provide services to Pakistan's trade
and industry to boost the country's exports and attract foreign investment. He called for close cooperation and
coordination between the trade bodies of Pakistan and Pakistan Embassies and Trade Offices abroad, which he regretted
lacked at present. Tariq Shafi called for complete information on the goods available for exports from Pakistan and
complete and updated statistics. Earlier Haroon Rashid briefed the Commercial Officers about the organisational
structure and activities of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry, which acts as the apex body
of all the Chambers of Commerce & Industry and the Associations of Trade and Industry of the country. He said that
FPCCI has been playing pivotal role in the promotion of the country's trade through the holding of fairs and
exhibitions abroad, taking out trade delegations abroad and holdling meetings with the foreign trade delegations
visiting Pakistan. He said that our Commercial Officers abroad can help a lot to the Pakistani businessmen by advising
them on the economic and trading prospects in their country of appointment. He called upon the Commercial Officers to
work hard for projecting the image of Pakistan as a safew destination for foreign direct investment and a supplier of
quality goods. The Government officials who visited FPCCI have been posted at New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, Montreal,
Hong Kong, Geneva, Jeddah, Kuala Lumpur, Sao Paulo, Mexico, Johannesburg, Dhaka, Warsaw and Almaty.
