Upper house appoints two women judges to Russian Supreme Court
Moscow, 12 May: Acting on a submission from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Federation Council has today appointed two new judges to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. They are Valentina Yemysheva and Galina Gulyayeva. Both are well known as highly professional people and have great work experience, it was noted during the discussion of their candidatures. The length of service of the new members of the Russian Supreme Court in the legal profession comes to over 20 years. Both Yemysheva and Gulyayeva worked until recently as judges in the Moscow city court. It is supposed that in the Supreme Court they will join the composition of the civic collegium.
