Chechen representative rules out Al-Qa`idah role in Kadyrov`s assassination Berlin, 11 May: Muhammad Hajji Qadiyif [name as transliterated], Chechnya's representative at the
Amsterdam-based non-independent states organization affiliated to the United Nations, has ruled out the possibility of
Al-Qa'idah organization being behind the killing of pro-Russia Chechen President Akhmat Kadyrov, as some media
organs in Russia had claimed.
In a statement to SPA today, Qadiyif said that elements of the Russian intelligence services were behind
Kadyrov's liquidation because he was no longer trusted in Moscow, adding that treachery carries a high price tag,
given that the blood of the two former presidents - Dzokhar Dudayev who was martyred in the mid-nineties, and after him
Zelimkhan Yanderbayev who was killed some two months ago after he performed the Friday prayer in the Qatari capital Doha
- will not be in vain.
He described Kadyrov as a Russian agent who - through his betrayal of the Chechen cause - allowed the Russians to
avail themselves of Chechnya's rich resources, adding that the Chechen people's struggle to gain their
independence has nothing to do with Al-Qa'idah or other organizations affiliated to international terrorism
organizations. [passage omitted]
