Aid organisation expects problems in Chechnya
Budapest, May 10 (MTI) - The assassination of the Chechen president will make the work of the Hungarian Ecumenical Aid Organisation more difficult, the organisation's press department told MTI on Monday. The leader of its northern Caucasian humanitarian aid programme office is safe and sound, it added. Northern Caucasian humanitarian aid programme director Laszlo Czimre said his office -- which directs the Ecumenical Aid Organisation's work in Chechnya -- is expected shortly to receive an international humanitarian delegation, as it was the first from Hungary with which the Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) of the European Commission concluded a cooperation agreement. ECHO, based in Brussels, intends to finance the work of the Hungarian aid organisation in Chechnya. However, Czimre said, the assassination of the president on Sunday meant the international humanitarian delegation's visit could be delayed.
