Russia sees inflation of 1% in April
MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Russia's consumer price inflation was 1% in April, compared with 0.8% in March, the Federal State Statistics Service reported. Inflation was 4.6% in January-April 2004, against 6.2% in the same period of 2003. Inflation in April 2003 was also 1%. The basic consumer prices index, excluding short-term price fluctuations of an administrative or social nature, was 100.8% in April and 103.2% in January-April. In April, food prices went up 0.8% (1.1% in March) and 1% without fruit and vegetables (0.9%). Nonfood goods rose 0.6% (0.4%) and service charges grew 2% in April, against 0.6% in March.
