Real ruble exchange rate strengthens 5.2% in Q1 - Economics Ministry
MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax) - The ruble's real exchange rate gained 5.2% against the dollar in the first quarter of 2004, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry reported in its socioeconomic report for the quarter on Friday. The real exchange rate strengthened 6.0% against the euro in January-March. The ruble's real effective exchange rate relative to the currency basket consolidated 4.7% in the first quarter of 2004, the ministry reported. The real ruble exchange rate strengthened 18.9% against the dollar in all of 2003, while the real effective ruble exchange rate gained 4.1% over the year, the ministry calculates.
