Russia reports increase in trade with Turkmenistan
Trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan has increased by 40 per cent in the first three months of 2004 compared to a similar period of the previous year, Turkmenistan.RU correspondent reports from Moscow quoting the [Russian] Economic Development and Trade Ministry. According to the ministry, [Russian] exports dominate in the Russian Federation's trade with the CIS countries. For instance, in January-February 2004 exports made up 63.1 per cent of Russia's foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries, ranging from 52.6 per cent with Moldova to 79.8 per cent with Turkmenistan. Let us note that as of 1 January of this year Russia resumed purchases of Turkmen gas under a 25-year accord on cooperation in the gas sector.
