Russian exports, positive trade balance grow in first quarter of 2004
Moscow, 30 April: Russia's exports in the first quarter of 2004 increased compared with the same period of 2003 by 20.8 per cent to 37.5bn dollars and imports grew 18.6 per cent to 18.8bn dollars. This information was published in the Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry report on the social and economic development of the Russian Federation in January-March 2004, Prime-TASS reported. In the view of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, export growth continued while price levels on the world markets for energy carriers and metals remained quite favourable. The positive balance in the first quarter of 2004, according to the Economic Development and Trade Ministry, amounted to 18.7bn dollars, compared with 15.3bn dollars in January-March 2003.
