Russia pays $53m to IMF
Russia paid about $53m to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in debt payments on Friday, including $28.255m in principal and EUR 20.72m in interest payments, the Russian Finance Ministry told RBC.

The next debt payment to the IMF is scheduled for May 20.

Russia is due to pay about $1.7bn (SDR 1.2bn) to the IMF in 2004. The country has already paid over $775m to the Fund in principle and interest payments since the beginning of the year. Last year, Russia’s debt payments to the IMF topped $2bn.

Russia plans to fully repay its debt to the Fund in 2006, Russian Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin said on April 24.
