RUSSIA: GAZPROM TO INVEST $9.6 BILLION IN 2006
Gazprom will increase investments over the next two years so it can ramp up extraction to maintain market share in Europe. Gazprom plans to invest 277 billion rubles (US$9.6 billion) in 2006, up 30 percent from planned spending this year of 212.3 billion rubles, the Moscow-based company said. It will spend 258.6 billion rubles in 2005. Gas production will rise to 548 billion cubic meters in 2006, up from 545 billion cubic meters planned next year. - (EMEconomy.com)
