Prince Andrew arrives in Sakhalin
YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. April 27 (Interfax) - Prince Andrew and his party arrived in a Royal Air Force plane from Tokyo in Yuzhno- Sakhalinsk on Tuesday. This is the first visit to Sakhalin by a member of the British royal family, a regional official told Interfax. Prince Andrew is acting as a special envoy for UK Trade & Investment, a British organization engaged in promoting foreign trade and investment. "The goal of the visit by the Duke of York is to enhance the prestige of British industries in the island and attract attention to the large investment projects run by British companies, especially BP and Shell," the official said. The prince also plans to discuss the possibility of attracting small and medium sized British companies to act as subcontractors servicing Russian projects in oil and gas production and refining. The visit will last until April 30. [RU EUROPE ASIA EMRG DIP GB CRU PRO] ap tl <>
