Gazprom to set up gas wholesaler in Hungary
Budapest, April 28, 2004 (MTI-ECONEWS) - Gazprom will set up a wholesaler, under the auspices of its Vienna-based subsidiary Centrex Europe Energy and Gas (CEEG), to sell gas on Hungary's partially deregulated market, CEEG official Janos Szito told MTI. The company could start operations within two to three months, Mr Szito told MTI. He added that Gazprom anticipates its market share will grow as Hungarian gas consumption grows. Mr Szito said that Gazprom, as announced earlier, is planning to bid for Mol's gas division, and added that even if Mol were to sell the division's three companies separately, it would still consider buying all three. Mr Szito noted the Hungarian cross-border capacity is being streched, not just in winter, but in summer as well when underground gas storage facilities are filled again. Gazprom would like to see the Hungarian and Slovakian gas pipeline networks interconnected, and would participate in any such project should a tender be announced, Mr Szito said.
