Kazakhstan - Russo-French-built satellite placed in orbit
Kazakhstan: The Espress-AM11 telecoms satellite built by Reshetnev (Russia) and Alcatel-Espace (France) was sent into orbit by a Proton-K booster launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome early on 27 April 2004. The satellite, which has a 12-year life useful life expectancy, carries a digital telecoms, Internet access and digital TV payload. Its footprint will cover Russia and CIS countries, as well as other geographies including E Africa, SE Asia and Australia.
