Kyrgyz prime minister praises Russia`s military aid
Bishkek, 26 April: Representatives of the Russian Rosoboroneksport [state arms exporter] handed over 3m dollars worth of military, technical and logistical equipment to the Kyrgyz Defence Ministry at the Russian air base in Kant today. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Nikolay Tanayev, Defence Minister Esen Topoyev and the Rosoboroneksport's management were present at the ceremony. Prime Minister Nikolay Tanayev said military cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia would further develop fruitfully. [Tanayev] We would like to emphasize Russia's considerable and [word indistinct] contribution to the strengthening of security in Kyrgyzstan, formation and development of our country's armed forces, training of specialists, solution of many important questions related to reinforcing our country's combat capability and the formation of collective and regional security systems. Russia has really become a centre that unites [word indistinct] member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in solving the problems of global terrorism. The full coincidence of interests of Russia and Kyrgyzstan in ensuring security in the Central Asian region has created conditions for the [Central Asian] rapid-deployment forces and their air-force component - the Russian air base in Kant - to be set up in the region. The rapid-deployment forces and their air-force component have become a real defence that will protect the CIS southern borders and ensure the military security of the Kyrgyz Republic. [Presenter] The armaments and kit will be handed over to special-task subdivisions of the [Collective Security Treaty Organization's] rapid-reaction forces which were set up to support the Central Asian rapid-deployment forces.
