Russia to base Iraq debt decision on IMF forecast
WASHINGTON. April 24 (Interfax) - Russia, which in 2003 promised to write off much of Iraq's $8 billion debt, will not make a definitive decision without approval from the Paris Club of creditors, of which it is a member, Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said on Saturday. Such a decision will be based on an outlook for the Iraqi economy that the International Monetary Fund is expected to make, Kudrin told reporters in Washington.
