Russia sees foreign trade surplus of $12.1 bln in Jan-Feb
MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - Russia's foreign trade surplus was $12.12 billion in January-February 2004, up from $9.64 billion in the same period of 2003, the Federal State Statistics Service reported Wednesday. Trade turnover totaled $35.36 billion, up 20.5% year-on-year. Exports were up 21.8% to $23.74 billion and imports were up 17.9% to $11.62 billion. In February, the surplus amounted to $5.6 billion, up from $4.69 billion in February 2003. Trade was up 21.9% to $18.32 billion, including a 21.3% increase in exports to $11.96 billion, and a 23.1% rise in imports to $6.36 billion. Exports to fellow CIS countries in January-February 2004 increased 25.5% year-on-year to $3.61 billion, and exports to the rest of the world increased 21.2% to $20.13 billion.
