Unemployment drops in March
MOSCOW. April 21 (Interfax) - The number of unemployed in Russia dropped by 176,000 in March 2004 to 5.69 million, its first drop since October 2003, the Federal State Statistics Service reported Wednesday. The number of unemployed is calculated according to International Labour Organization method and includes people out of work that are looking for jobs and ready to start work immediately. The level of unemployment at the end of March 2004 was at 7.9% of the workforce, which totaled 72.2 million people, or half the country's population. [RU ASIA EUROPE EEU EMRG ECI JOB] me
