Russia - MTS has more than 20 million subscribers
Russia-based mobile operator MTS reached a consolidated subscriber base in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine of 20.28
million on 16 April 2004. The first MTS user was registered in June 1994. In May 2003 MTS' subscriber base exceeded
10 million; in less than 12 months, MTS' user growth has doubled. MTS provides its cellular services in nearly all
of Russia's regions, as well as in Ukraine and Belarus. Users who sign up for the MTS network are offered reliable
mobile communications, a flexible tariff policy, an extensive intranet roaming zone and high level customer care. In
addition to voice services, MTS provides its users with a substantial range of value-added information and entertainment
services using up-to-date technology.
