Russia trade surplus drops 14% in Feb
MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Russia's foreign trade surplus, calculated by the balance of payments method, dropped 14% in February to $5.6 billion from a record $6.52 billion in January, the Central Bank of Russia reported. The surplus was $12.12 billion in January-February, almost 26% up from $9.64 billion in the same two months of 2003. The surplus tumbled in February because of a 20.9% increase in imports to $6.36 billion from $5.26 billion, with exports up only 1.6% to $11.96 billion from $11.78 billion.
