Govt may acquire controlling stake in Gazprom
MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - The government may increase its interest in Gazprom to a controlling stake before the gas monopoly's share market is liberalized, independent Gazprom board member Boris Fyodorov told the press in Moscow on Friday. "I think that in the next two months - before the shareholders meeting in June - they [the government] will announce that their stake is to be increased to controlling and at the same time they will announce the start of share market liberalization," he said. "It's common knowledge that the government controls Gazprom and there is no reason to pretend, but it would be a big step forward if "I do not know exactly how this will be done, but this is what I think will happen," he said. duplicity was eliminated," Fyodorov added.
