Russian political and economic calendar: April 8
In Moscow: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov is to chair a meeting of MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - The political and economic calendar in Moscow, Russia and Newly Independent States for April 8 is as follows: the Cabinet of Ministers in Government House at which the agenda includes a packet of tax reform laws. This packet includes amendments to the Tax Code concerning a reduction in the single social tax, amendments to the chapter on profit tax and the indexing of excise duties in 2005 and also amendments to the Tax Code concerning the formula for charging the natural resource extraction tax and amendments to the law on customs tariffs, changing the tariff scale for oil exports. Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin will speak. The two-day international conference Liberal Program for the New Century: A Global Outlook is to open. Participants will include Russian presidential economic advisor Andrei Illarionov, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Vice President Kakha Bendukidze, Gazprom board member Boris Fyodorov, Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Grigory Marchenko, representatives from the National Bank of Poland, politicians, economics and scientists. The forum Russian Engineering and Instrument Building for the Oil and Gas Complex is to continue. The Russian Central Bank is to hold a reverse REPO auction for OFZ 46009 amounting to 39.75 billion rubles, to be bought back on November 18, 2004. The Moscow Arbitration Court is to hear a suit filed by a private individual - a minority shareholder in OAO SUAL - over the validity of a fifth issue of common named shares by the company amounting to 1.5 billion rubles. AO Gidromash (Nizhny Novgorod) is to hold its annual shareholders' meeting. AO Yakutgazprom is to hold an extraordinary shareholders' meeting. AO Lenenergo and AO Novosibirsk Refining Plant are to hold board meetings. In the Russian regions: The fourth international forum Russian Fuel and Energy Complex: Regional Aspects is to continue in St. Petersburg until April 9. In the CIS and Baltic states: The ninth Belarussian forum on information and communications technology TIBO-2004 is to continue in Minsk. The forum will end on April 9. World Bank Regional Director for Central Europe and the Baltic Roger W. Grawe is to visit Riga.
