BPO ADVANTAGE IN DANGER, SAYS IDC (study finds India`s supremacy in global BPO industry may not be sustained for long as other countries make progress in BPO business)
A study carried out jointly by International Data Corporation (IDC) and the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) committee of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) has said that India's superiority in the global BPO industry may not be sustained in the long run. Other countries like Philippines, China, Mexico, Ireland, Canada, Russia and South Africa are rapidly making progress in the BPO business. These countries have a skilled and English-educated workforce, good telecom infrastructure and familiarity with American work culture. They also possess good technology skills, high quality standards and a rigid regulatory framework. IDC is of the opinion that such capabilities developed by these countries pose a threat to India's top position in the global BPO business.
