09 April 2004 02:41 Russian premier sets remit and size of Economic Development Ministry Moscow, 9 April: Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has signed a resolution establishing the areas of
responsibility of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
The ministry is responsible for developing state policy and legal and standards regulation in the field of economic
development, foreign economic activity, trade, customs control, state statistics, tariffs of the subjects of natural
monopolies, management of federal property, insolvency (bankruptcy) of organizations, management of the state material
reserve, the real estate register, entrepreneurship and small business, Prime-TASS reports, citing the government

The upper limit on the number of officials in the ministry's central apparatus has been set at 1,940.
