RUSSIA: EX-LITHUANIAN PRESIDENT PAKSAS HOSPITALIZED
According to Interfax, Rolandas Paksas, who was expelled from the position of Lithuanian president, was hospitalized a few days ago. Paksas, 47, gave a farewell dinner for his staff on Tuesday after the parliament announced earlier in the day that he would be removed from the presidency through the impeachment procedure. Later, Paksas was taken to the hospital. Citing Health Minister Juozas Olekas, the newspaper Respublika reported that the ex-president is in a cardiac intensive therapy ward. Olekas said Paksas suffered hypertension, which was probably caused by too much pressure, but his life was not in danger.
