06 April 2004 03:24 Govt. to liberalize Gazprom share market in 2004 - Gref (Part 2) MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - The government intends to liberalize the market for shares in Russian gas giant Gazprom
this year, said Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref.
"The reform of Gazprom is already in progress and this year, I hope, we will liquidate the dual market for [the
company's] shares," Gref told the fifth international conference on the Competitiveness and Modernization of
the Economy.
"Gazprom is not standing still, [Alexei] Miller [the CEO] is doing the right things, but he is not making an
exhibition of it," Gref said.
"Gazprom has adopted an annual business plan, which it did not have in the past, and a three-year strategy.
Gazprom borrows money only in accordance with approved investment plans. What ordinary businessmen have been able to
grasp, such as two times two equals four, Gazprom has only managed to achieve just lately," Gref said.
Gref said Gazprom had passed a document stating that all procurements will be made competitively."
He also said Gazprom itemized transportation and production separately. [RU ASIA EUROPE EEU EMRG ENR STX NGS] pr
