Senior Russian delegation visits Kosovo, announces more aid for Serbs Gracanica, 25 March: Two Russian planes which will bring prefabricated houses for Serbs in Kosmet [Kosovo-Metohija]
should arrive on Monday 29 March, a senior delegation of the Russian Ministry of [Civil Defence,] Emergencies [and
dealing with consequences of Natural Disasters] announced in Gracanica [south of Pristina] today.
Two Russian planes loaded with humanitarian aid have already arrived in Kosovo and two additional ones are arriving
tomorrow.
"Russia has not forgotten Serbs. We are here under President Vladimir Putin's orders," journalists
were told by Sergey Kudinov on behalf of the Russian delegation following talks with Raska-Prizen Bishop Artemije and
members of the Kosovo Crisis HQ for the district of Gracanica.
Kudinov said that the aim of the visit was to establish the needs of the Serb people and where the prefabricated
houses sent by Russia were going to be erected.
Bishop Artemije thanked for the help and a speedy reaction by the Russian president and the whole of Russia and added
that this did not have only significance in material but also moral terms as far as the Serbs were concerned.
"This is a sign that we have the great Russia as our friend and that we can lean on it," Raska-Prizren
bishop said.
The Russian delegation, escorted by reinforced Kfor [NATO-led Stabilization Force] units and the international
police, visited Kosovo Polje, Lipljan and Kralj Milutin [King Milutin] primary school in Gracanica.
