Russian Audit Chamber finds no irregularities in use of large IMF loan
Moscow, 25 March: The Russian Audit Chamber has found no irregularities with regard to the use by the Bank of Russia of funds out of an IMF 1998 loan totalling almost 5bn [dollars]. "Allegations that not all the funds have reached Russia have not been confirmed," the Audit Chamber told ITAR-TASS today. The comment was made to ITAR-TASS in connection with the fifth anniversary of the completion of the audit whose results are still causing an interest. "Auditors led by Eleonora Mitrofanova, then an auditor in the chamber, did not discover irregularities in the Bank of Russia operations regarding transfer of funds of the first tranche of the IMF loan totalling 4.8bn dollars," the source said.
