Russian Internal Troops commander visits personnel wounded in Chechnya
[Presenter] Internal Troops personnel wounded in the counter-terrorism operation in Chechnya received awards and valuable presents today from their commander-in-chief, Vyacheslav Tikhomirov. The day before their professional holiday - Internal Troops Day - the parents of the wounded men arrived to support their sons. Some relatives have been in the military hospitals for several months already and they too received gifts in token of their selflessness and moral support for the wounded. Vyacheslav Tikhomirov said that recent reform of the Interior Troops would enable a substantial reduction in military losses. [Vyacheslav Tikhomirov, Russian deputy interior minister and commander-in-chief of the Internal Troops of the Russian Interior Ministry] Over the last four years, thanks to improvements in training, new weapons and military hardware and new means of action, there has been a 30-40 per cent annual drop in the number of losses among the Internal Troops.
