Finland used as transit route for women and children claim
Large numbers of women and children are smuggled through Finland. Finland is being used as a transit route by internationally organised criminal elements for smuggling large numbers of women and children from Russia, according to the Finnish church's foreign aid organisation. The foreign aid manager Antti Pentikainen has told the Finnish newspaper Satakunnan Kansa that the women and children are being transported through Finland towards the rest of the European Union, for purposes such as sexual exploitation. It is possible that the information is true, according to both the Finnish justice ministry and the Finnish federal bureau of investigation, which is investigating the organised sex trade.
