Russia ups foreign trade surplus in Jan (Part 2)
MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - Russia's foreign trade surplus rose to $6.7 billion in January 2004, against $6.3 billion in January 2003, the Federal Customs Service said Monday. Foreign trade turnover increased 10.9% year-on-year to $14.1 billion. Exports rose 9.5% to $10.4 billion and imports increased 14.9% to $3.7 billion. Trade with non-CIS countries amounted to $11.5 billion, up 8.1% from January 2003, with exports up 6.1% to $8.7 billion and imports up 14.8% to $2.8 billion. The trade surplus was up by $100 million at $5.9 billion. Trade with fellow CIS countries rose 25% to $2.6 billion with exports up 31.3% to $1.7 billion and imports up 15% to $900 million.
