TYUMEN. March 11 (Interfax-Urals) - Tyumen region plans to build a pulp and paper mill costing up to $950 million,
the regional governor, Pavel Mitrofanov, told the press.
and tax revenue might be 2.4 billion rubles a year when projected capacity is achieved.
The region has been talking to companies from Austria, Italy and Germany over the past six months about their
participation in the project, Mitrofanov said.
Mitrofanov said the mill might use waste from milled coniferous wood as a raw material. Most of the region's
standing timber is deciduous, which is also a good raw material. The new plant should not have trouble selling its
products because demand for thin cardboard is growing 20% annually in Russia.
