RUSSIA: OFFICIALS OF PREVIOUS MINISTRIES WILL NOT BE FIRED – FRADKOV ASSURES.
According to Ria Novosti, Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov promises that some officials of the abolished ministries will not be laid off. "Rank-and-file staff members must feel confident." The PM also noted that the previous tasks that were set to the abolished ministries "have become outdated". "The new Ministry of Transport and Communications must get rid of political and supervisory functions, and this will show how much we are ready to use market mechanisms," Mikhail Fradkov concluded his statement.
