Russian Oil Firm to Set Up Polish Distribution Chain
Russia's Yukos oil concern is planning to set up a network of petrol stations in Poland, said Janusz Szum, head of Polish operations at Yukos. The business plan will be prepared in cooperation with specialists from Yukos's Mazeikiu refinery in Lithuania. The refinery sold nearly 200,000 tons of petroleum in Poland last year, and has the capacity to sell up to 400,000 tons. "We plan to start making our network next year at the latest, as without own distribution network the sales in Poland are difficult," said Mr Szum. Jukos won't make the network from the scratch, but will start from franchising private, independent gas stations. "They would sell our petroleum, while we would give them our logo and marketing support, " said Mr Szum. But franchising does not exclude the creation of our own network, said the sales director at the Lithuanian refinery, Wlodzimierz Olbrycht.
