Russia: Dozens of children poisoned following chemical emission at Urals factory
Yekaterinburg, 3 March: Sixty children from a kindergarten located in central Yekaterinburg were poisoned today as a result of chemical emission at the Uralbiofarm factory. Doctors have no doubt that the poisoning, rash on the children's skin and enlargement of their liver were caused by the emission of citramonum and ascorbic acid from the factory duct, Yekaterinburg's State Sanitary and Epidemic Control Committee centre has told ITAR-TASS. [In a separate report, in Russian 0519 gmt 3 March, ITAR-TASS said that the kindergarten had been closed for decontamination and the bright-yellow snow, smelling of chemicals, was being removed. Doctors from the State Sanitary and Epidemic Control Committee will finish examining samples of the snow later in the day. They intend to close the factory and fine its management]
