RUSSIA: GAZPROM LAYS RUBBER
Russia's Gazprom's biggest petrochemical unit, Sibur, will seek to boost its share of the country's automobile tire market by taking customers from Nokian Renkaat Oyj, the biggest Nordic tire maker, and Bridgestone Corp., the world's top tire maker. Sibur plans to raise its share of the Russian market to 55 percent, or 25.5 million tires per year, in 2008, from 48 percent in 2003, the company said in a statement. The company expects the Russian tire market to expand by 6 percent to 7 percent per year. - (EMEconomy.com)
