INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES PROVIDE ALMOST HALF OF TAX REVENUE IN 2003 -
MINISTRY MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Industrial companies provided tax revenue amounting to 1.2 trillion rubles, or 44% of overall tax revenue in the budget system in 2003, acting Tax Minister Gennady Bukayev said at an expanded Tax Ministry meeting on Friday. Bukayev said that collection of excise duties on tobacco, alcohol and natural gas fell short of target last year. He said that this was He said that the budget system received 619 billion rubles in VAT, or 23.2% of total tax revenue for the consolidated budget, in addition to 527 billion rubles in corporate profit tax (17%), 399 billion rubles in natural resource extraction taxes (14.9%) and 347 billion rubles in excise duties (13%). Bukayev said that trade and catering came in second in terms of payments to the budget system, with 409 billion rubles or 15% of total consolidated budget tax revenue.
