Russian ombudsman calls for zero tolerance of racism
Moscow, 27 February: Russian Human Rights Commissioner Vladimir Lukin has urged law-enforcement agencies to be more effective in investigating offences associated with incitement to racial, ethnic and religious hatred and to political extremism. "Those crimes must not go unpunished and the guilty parties must bear responsibility as established by law," Lukin was quoted by his press service as saying in a statement issued to RIA. "Our country's prestige is incompatible with tolerance of racial and ethnic offences," Lukin said.
