RUSSIA: AUTHORITIES DECIDE KHAKAMADA AND KHARITONOV ARE NOT THE SAME AS PUTIN
According to Ria Novosti, the Central Electoral Commission has turned down grievances from presidential candidates Irina Khakamada and Nikolai Kharitonov who said the state-owned TV channels gave free air time to incumbent president and presidential candidate Vladimir Putin when covering his speech to supporters earlier this month. The two candidates maintained that this was a violation of the equality principle and demanded the same amount of free air time – 29 minutes and 5 seconds – be allocated to them as well.
