Petrol Stations In Dispute with Fuel Giant PKN Orlen
The association of independent fuel stations, cooperating with Poland's biggest oil concern PKN Orlen, has rejected Orlen's strategy for the retail sale of fuel. "It assumes that 200-250 of the independent stations currently selling fuel under Orlen's trademark will either sign franchise contracts or will be purchased by the concern. As for the remaining 300 stations, the company did not present any vision for development. We are also worried by the serious deterioration of the financial conditions of cooperation," said Janusz Tatarski, chairman of the association. According to Orlen, not all the stations fulfill the firm's basic requirements. Therefore, the association is eyeing potential new partners. It has began preliminary talks with Grupa Lotos as well as Russian oil concerns. Tomorrow the management of Orlen will discuss the association's proposals concerning the future of independent fuel stations.
