City: Russian envoy, MPs witness NH&CS, meets Qadri
LAHORE, Feb. 16-(PPI): Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Shevchenko Eduard along with his wife Galina Shevchenko Monday witnessed the National Horse & Cattle Show opened here at Fortress Stadium today. Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi invited him to grace the occasion. Besides, the NH&CS, which resumed after nine years was also participated by many foreigners including Pakistani UK parliamentarian Lord Nazir and local Members of parliament from across side i.e. treasury and opposition, of latter PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah and others too attended the opening ceremony. Later, Mr. Shevchenko Eduard called on Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri at his residence and discussed different matters. He was briefed about various activities of Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran and its different educational and welfare activities. It is pertinent to mention that the Russian envoy has been visiting the provincial metropolis as his wife held her paintings exhibition here at Al-hamra Arts Centre. He said his country would enhance trade ties with Pakistan and through a joint venture with the local companies, Russia would set up an assembling plant of trucks and bulldozers at Karachi to meet the ample demand of trucks and bulldozers in the army and civilian fields.
