Russian federal budget in surplus in January 2004
Moscow, 5 February: Russia's federal budget surplus totalled R55.46bn in January or 5.3 per cent of the gross domestic product (GDP), an official with the Finance Ministry told Prime-TASS on Thursday [5 February]. According to preliminary estimates, Russia's GDP stood at R1,043bn roubles in January. The federal budget revenues reached R217.8bn, while spending hit R162.4bn. The primary surplus came to R66.5bn or 6.4 per cent of GDP. Of the total federal budget revenues, the Tax Ministry contributed R149.5bn in the period, the State Customs Committee - R60bn, the Property Relations Ministry - R4.3bn, the Finance Ministry - R1.9bn and the Atomic Energy Ministry - R2.1bn. No contributions were made from the State Fisheries Committee because no fishing rights auctions were held. (28.5281 roubles - 1 dollar)
