Russia to consult with Moldova on Dniester privatization deals
Chisinau, 2 February: The Russian ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Moldova, Yuriy Zubakov, said on Friday [30 January] at a meeting with Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev that Russian companies would coordinate with Chisinau their activities in terms of privatization of companies in [Moldova's breakaway] Dniester region. Zubakov said Russian regions were interested in signing direct cooperation agreements with Moldovan companies and ready to examine specific cooperation projects. Zubakov confirmed Russia's interest in a final settlement of the Dniester conflict. He said Moscow, as a mediator in the conflict, will do its best to solve it. Zubakov also said the Russian government was ready to sell to Moldova food wheat at prices lower than the market average.
