RUSAL UPS ALUMINUM OUTPUT 4.3% MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Russian aluminum giant RusAl raised output 4.3% to 2.589 million tonnes of primary
aluminum in 2003, the company said in a news release.
Sales were up 12% to $4.5 billion, from $4 billion in 2002 thanks partly to a 6%-increase in aluminum on the LME and
an improvement in the product mix and range.

Russian Aluminum accounts for over 70% of the primary aluminum
RusAl created an Engineering and Technical Center which enabled the company to develop a universal program to upgrade
smelting processes. This resulted in output growth of 10.9% at the Sayanogorsk smelter and 4.47% at the Krasnoyarsk

Shareholders of Basic Element led by Oleg Deripaska control 75% of RusAL, and Sibneft shareholders led by Roman
Abramovich control the other 25%. The Sibneft shareholders' stake is managed by Millhouse Capital.
RusAl's biggest dopwnstream units are the Samara Metallurgical Plant (SMZ) and Belaya Kalitva Metallurgical
Production Association (BKMPO).
