UN official to discuss humanitarian aid for various regions
MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax) - UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland said on Wednesday that during upcoming meetings with senior Russian officials, he will discuss ways for Russia to play a more active role in providing humanitarian aid to regions plagued by conflicts. Egeland told a roundtable conference in Moscow that there is a need now to intensify international humanitarian efforts in regions affected by conflicts, adding that the agenda for his Moscow visit will include options for expanding Russia's humanitarian role.
