23 January 2004 21:03 Russian Duma backs law on the mortgaging of agricultural land [Presenter] The State Duma today [23 January] drew up its plan for the spring session. There are 72 priority draft
laws. Eighty per cent of them have been submitted to the president and government. The deputies also approved amendments
to the law on mortgages. Until today, the norm was for mortgages on agricultural land to be banned. Now this ban has
been lifted, and restrictions have been imposed on mortgages on agricultural land belonging to the state and to
municipalities.
