Governor in southern Russian region briefs Putin on economic upturn [Presenter] We have just received pictures of Vladimir Putin's working meeting with Krasnodar Territory governor
Aleksandr Tkachev, at which they discussed the socioeconomic development of the region.
[Putin] How is what we agreed most recently going, what we agreed on at our last meetings? What are the year's
results like? I have a general idea, but what are the most recent figures? I have an idea it's not bad at all in
Krasnodar Territory.
[Tkachev] You're quite right. Overall, the socioeconomic situation is completely stable. I'll give you the
figures on this. We get 10 out of 10 for our Gross Regional Product. This is a rapidly developing territory. Our core
industries, that's agriculture, industry, construction, tractors, resorts, are all something like 10-25, 30 per
cent up.
[Putin] And you've got political events coming up soon, elections for governor and for mayor in several major
cities. I know you personally are in a strong position, but in any event I hope all the political events go well in
terms of organization, being fair and transparent.
