19 January 2004 13:22 Russia`s industrial output grows by 7 per cent - minister [Presenter] Today President Vladimir Putin summoned ministers to the Kremlin for a traditional Monday meeting. He
listened to the reports about work on the draft programme for [the improvement of] the public health service in rural
areas, about preparations for the sowing campaign and many other things.
Meanwhile, a little hitch occurred while summing up the results of Russia's economic development in 2003.
Officials failed to find out the exact figure for GDP growth.
[Putin] German Oskarovich, you have said that the Ministry of Economic Development [and Trade] has compiled the final
results of work in the last year, including the industrial growth.
[Minister of Economic Development and Trade German Gref, captioned] Yes, we received the information on the results
of the year 2003 on Friday [16 Jan 03]. The figure for GDP growth has not been compiled yet, this will be done by the
middle of the week. Industrial output has grown 7 per cent on the year 2002. According to our data, GDP has increased by
no less than 6.9 per cent, but the final figure will be known by the middle of the week.
