30 October 2002 16:53 Unemployment in Russia stands at 1.2 million Moscow, 30 October: As of 1 October, the total number of unemployed in Russia amounted to 1.2 million people, the
Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade said in a report. The report will be discussed at the government
sitting on 31 October. Today, ITAR-TASS received the text of the report.
Summing up the results of the socioeconomic development in Russia in the nine months of this year, the ministry said
productivity had risen by 6.9 per cent. However, a trend whereby the population's incomes grow faster than
productivity remains. The real incomes have increased by 7.1 per cent.
According to the report, exports went down by 800m dollars to 76.2bn dollars on the same period last year. Imports
have gone up from 42.6bn dollars to 47.1bn dollars on the same period last year.
