05 January 2004 10:12 Russian Party of Life to propose its own presidential candidate Sergei Mironov, leader of the Russian Party of Life, says that, if he decides to run for president, he will do so to support Vladimir Putin. "When the leader enters a fight, you can't leave him without support, you need to stand by him. We have said many times that we support the presidential cause. We support the presidential cause, and we should support the president himself. We should show that the president is not alone," Mironov said at the Russian Party of Life congress held in Moscow on Sunday. "It is vital to take part in this presidential race. We have no doubts that the people will support us, the people will understand that we now need the presidential cause and that it needs to be protected, especially in the course of the next four years," he said. Mironov said he did no consult with anyone about nominating himself for president. "I am an independent politician, the leader of a new political force. I have not consulted with anyone in this regard and I am not going to do it," Mironov said. The Russian Party of Life has never acted as an independent political unit at the federal level before, Mironov said. In addition, he expressed regrets that the leaders of the other political parties have decided not to nominate their candidates for president. "Why have all the parties hidden? Where did they go?" he said.
